  1. A tropical tree, Citrus maxima (or C. grandis), closely related to the grapefruit.
  2. The edible yellow, pear shaped fruit of this tree. Also called "pompelmous." [After Captain Shaddock, commander of an East India Company Ship, who took the seed to Jamica in 1696.]
